frank is an annual gathering for public interest communicators to learn about social change through strategic communications. As one of Alpha PRoductions’ clients, we handle recruitment and training of student volunteers who will be working the event, or “frank ambassadors.” More than 70 students have already signed up for at least one volunteer shift. Josh Ferrari, the assistant managing director overseeing the account, expressed his growing excitement.

“I am really proud of the hard work of the Alpha PRoductions team for frank. Excitement is growing and we are expecting the event to be a smashing success thanks to our awesome frank ambassadors,” Ferrari said.

The gathering started in 2014 as part of Frank Karel’s mission in creating a large and diverse public interest communication field. Karel, a University of Florida alumnus, spent his 30-year career using communication for social change.

Ann Christiano, frank organizer and Frank Karel chair in public interest communication, said frank ambassadors add a unique energy to the gathering.

“Students bring life to frank. They bring an energy that is unmatched anywhere,” Christiano said.

The ambassadors will have different roles throughout the gathering from ushers to huddle guides. Moriah Camenker, public relations senior and second-time volunteer, said she learns a lot just by volunteering.

frank is about people coming together to inspire and learn to create change for the public good,” she said. “I am really passionate about that too so I can’t help but want to be part of frank in any way I can. You really come out of that event feeling like one day you will cause change and make the world a better place.”

frank will take place February 25 – 27 in Downtown Gainesville. For more information, visit http://frank.jou.ufl.edu/.
